Words cannot describe what a joy this wedding was to shoot.. the entire bridal party was so vivacious and fun. It was a day full of love in a way that every wedding should be. They cared for the gorgeous details and beauty of the event, but this was a wedding that revolved around the love Caleb and Alicia had for each other, first and foremost. It was such a joy to see all of their loved ones come together and support them just as enthusiastically!

I want to let these photos speak for themselves.. But believe me, they are just as sweet as they look in these photographs. (If not more!) Words cannot describe what a joy it was to shoot these two on their big day. It was just as much fun for me as it was for everyone in these pictures. (sidenote: is this not the most attractive bridal party you’ve ever seen, in your life?!)

This shoot is very near and dear to my heart. For so long I’ve longed to shoot a couple in a lavender field. I’ve had dreams of how I specifically wanted it to look, and after much time and thought, I decided to make that dream a reality. If you know me at all you know that I have a serious love for lavender, and all things herbal for that matter. (In my candles, in my perfume, in my tea, in my food and in my floral arrangements! I can’t get enough!) I love the romance and beauty in the scent of lavender, it’s pale purple hues and the way it looks with the sunlight peeking through it’s buds. I love photographs with true, genuine, natural emotion. So the inspiration for this shoot was to create a scene that embodies a feel of natural, organic romance. Natural and organic in style, a little bit rustic. And romantic in inspiration, in the couple we handpicked, in the decor, in the atmosphere. I handpicked the vendors and chose the people I knew would be a perfect fit for this little dream of mine. And I couldn’t be more pleased, this shoot could not have happened without each and every one of their efforts. (vendor listing at the bottom of the page)
I’d also like to thank Brides.com for featuring us today! It’s truly such an honor to be featured on their site. Words cannot express my utter excitement and gratitude! You can view the full feature by clicking here.
So, without further adieu, an evening in the lavender:

Emilee is a dear friend of mine. She styles weddings and offers vintage rentals for her business, Tasteful Tatters, and is one of my absolute favoite venders to work with! Not to mention she’s been a good friend of mine for the past few years now.. So when she told me her sweet idea of surprising her husband on their one year anniversary, I couldn’t have been more excited to be involved. This has been a year full of large milestones and many mountains to climb, as life takes its seemingly never ending tolls. This was a very special, personal time between them where they could renew their vows, and be reminded of the promises they made, to have and to hold each other forever. To be reminded of the choice they made to be each other’s one and only, and to never break that promise. She put together a really sweet setup, each detail has a very personal meaning to them.
”I want you to be my love
I want you to be my love
‘Neath the moon and the stars above
I want you to be my love
I want you to know me now
I want you to know me now
Break a promise make a vow
I know you want me now
Like I want you”
Over The Rhine, “I Want You To Be My Love”
That’s the song she walked down the isle to, and she painted the lyrics on wood where they’d renew their vows.
I met Matt my senior year of high school, he always stood out to me as someone who went out of his way to be kind to others. He introduced me to some of my dear friends now, it seems like just yesterday one was telling me, “Matt met his future wife!” When people tell me that I tend to be pretty skeptical, but then I met Eliza. I haven’t known her very long, but after spending the little bit of time we did spend together I can confidently say that she is a GEM! It just drools out of their photographs that they care so deeply for each other. What I loved most about shooting this wedding was their attitudes throughout the day. Often times we get so caught up in a dress and fancy things and forget what we’re celebrating. I love it when I meet couples who are giddy with excitement over the marriage, rather than the wedding! (Don’t get me wrong, I love a good crafty wedding)
A couple of awesome facts: they met at art school. She is a film photographer. She shoots skateboarders. He skateboards. She’s from Scotland, hence the kilts. Their smiles are infectious, just wait and see.
